Members will sing, perform and interact with the public to unmask myths Bangalore: Bharata Jnana Vijnana Samiti, comprising writers, theatre persons and activists, functioning from the premises of the Indian Institute of Science, has organised an 18-day jnana vijnana jatha commencing from December 20 in 19 districts. The theme of the jatha is decentralisation, harmony and scientific thinking for development. Giving details of the jatha to reporters, the Legislative Council Chairman B.K. Chandrasekhar, who is also the chairman of the reception committee of the jatha, said that six groups of 15 members each would give programmes highlighting the importance of the scientific temper and of values enshrined in the Constitution. Mr. Chandrasekhar said that the members will sing, perform, and interact with the public to unmask the myths behind ‘miracles’ and other beliefs that are widely accepted. For example, a jatha conducted by a group would throw light on the Bhanamathi practice in Gulbarga and Bidar districts. The jatha by the other four groups will be held at Ramadurga in Belgaum district, Gabbur in Raichur district, Hassan and Tumkur on December 20. He said that the programme will culminate with cultural events at six places in Bangalore on January 5. Books on the theme would be sold there. The jatha would also pass through Koppal, Bellary, Davanagere, Gadag, Dharwad, Haveri, Dakshina Kannada, Chickmagalur, Mysore, Mandya, Bangalore Rural and Kolar districts.
