Road committees to regulate traffic movement

BANGALORE: The State Government has asked the district road safety committees to regulate the movement of heavy vehicles on national highways and other roads in coordination with other civic agencies.
Members
According to an official press release, the Deputy Commissioners will head the committee that consists of district- level officers of the Public Works Department, the Ports and IWT Department (Communication and Buildings), National Highways, the Transport Department, municipalities, zilla panchayats, the Urban Development and Town and the Country Planning Department as its members.
The City Police Commissioner will head the Bangalore committee.
Discussions
Meetings will be held every month to discuss about the measures that will be needed to prevent damaging of roads. The new measure will help in bringing better coordination among the various agencies involved in regulating the movement of traffic, the release said.
