VIJAYAWADA: The G.S. Sanyal School of Telecommunications of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Kharagpur, on Monday began offering a six-day off-campus short-term course on ‘Optical and Wireless Networks’ (OWN 2007) at the ECE department of V.R. Siddhartha Engineering College (VRSEC) here as part of a continuing education programme. P.L.N. Prasad, secretary of the Siddhartha Academy of General and Technical Education, inaugurated the programme. Saswat Chakrabarti, course coordinator and chairman of the G.S. Sanyal School of Telecommunications, gave a brief of the course. R.V. Raja Kumar, professor of E & ECE at IIT, Kharagpur, spoke. VRSEC principal K.R.K. Prasad was present.
