THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Union Bank of India will set up a public reference library in Kochi, investing around Rs.2 crore, M.V. Nair, bank chairman and managing director, said on Monday. At a press conference here, Mr. Nair said approvals for allotment of land and other aspects of the project were being completed and the project would become a reality soon. The initiative is part of efforts of the bank to perform corporate social responsibility, for which it has established the Union Bank Social Foundation. The initiatives of the foundation will broadly cover education and rural economic activity. The bank will provide infrastructure and amenities in schools in rural areas.
