The police said the two Tamil-speaking women, Bhagawathy, 25, and Easwari, 22, were found in suspicious circumstances, along with a six-month-old girl child, Anjali, and a three-year-old boy, Muniyandi. Vessels recoveredThe police recovered copper vessels from their possession, suspected to have been stolen from houses. On being questioned, the women said they hailed from Coimbatore. They claimed that the children were theirs. Jerome, Childline activist, who interacted with Muniyandi said the child had revealed his mother’s name as Mariam and his native place as Kovilpetti. He said the boy was found with Rs.1,000 in his pocket. The police said they suspected the women to be part of a bigger migrant group involved in theft and forced begging by children, especially at major tourist destinations. Mr. Jerome said Childline would move the court seeking custody of the boy for rehabilitation.
