Minister: A.P. model of SEZs is the best
Special Correspondent
HYDERABAD: Andhra Pradesh’s Major Industries Minister J. Geeta Reddy expressed confidence that the State would never ever witness a situation like Nandigram in West Bengal. Speaking at ‘SEZ Forum 2007’, organised by Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) here on Tuesday, she said that the AP model of Special Economic Zones (SEZ) was the most proactive and investor-friendly and one that took the farmer as a stakeholder. Land was acquired in such a way that the farmers had no heartburn. Dr. Geeta Reddy recalled how the country’s first Export Promotion Zone in Kandla, Gujarat, set up in 1965 had changed the region.
She also lauded the efforts of the SEZ pioneers in Andhra Pradesh.
