Public works worth Rs. 50 lakh sanctioned in Kapra

HYDERABAD: Public works like roads, toilets, street-lights worth about Rs. 50 lakh in Kartikeyanagar, Ambedkarnagar and several Dalit localities in the Kapra municipal limits were sanctioned during a visit on Tuesday by D. Rajesham, East Zone Commissioner, who has jurisdiction over the Kapra, L.B.Nagar and Uppal areas.

Pending works

Accompanied by officials and representatives of Kartikeyanagar Welfare Association and Dalit organisations besides local Congress, TDP and BJP leaders, he directed that the works be completed by March 31. While pending works would be speeded up, those ordered are to be sanctioned in a week’s time. He directed officials to level all roads and remove all encroachments by December 31.

Among the works sanctioned are two bathroom-cum-toilets in the Dalit graveyard at Kartikayenagar, two static water tanks and two/three CC roads in the nearby ‘basti’, mesh for two open wells in nearby Dalitwada, sanction of sports equipment in the Ambedkarnagar community hall and its parapet wall, de-weeding of the Kapra water tank and its adjoining open nalas and construction of compound wall for two or three government lands being misused by private persons. He approved four toilets in the Kapra marketyard, besides construction of the compound wall for its open area.

Mr. Rajesham asked the colony welfare associations/organisations to undertake sanitation work and clear house garbage and impose fine of Rs. 100 each if the households failed to do so.
