The cable, near the office of the Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic), got entangled in the wheels, throwing the rider and pillion rider off the vehicle, who were run over by a milk van coming behind. While the pillion rider Krishnaveni (19), of Arakkonam, died on the spot, K. Naveen (22) of Perambur, the rider, was declared brought dead at the Kilpauk Medical College hospital. Both were students of an engineering college in Kavaraipettai, near Red Hills. The police said the rider going towards Chennai Central Station, lost control of the vehicle. The vehicle went zig zag before the two were thrown off the vehicle. Naveen was wearing a helmet.
