Three killed in road accidents

BANGALORE: Three persons were killed in as many road accidents in the city on Monday night.

The police said Sunitha (45) was killed on the spot after a lorry rammed the moped on which she was riding pillion.

The accident occurred around 10.30 p.m. at T. Dasarahalli on Tumkur Road. The Peenya traffic police have registered a case.

In another accident reported from Tumkur Road, Girish Babu (30) was killed after a mini lorry knocked down his scooter near the Widia factory around 8.30 p.m. Babu, a resident of Nelamangala, was a manager with a private bank here and was on his way home, the police said.

An unidentified man aged round 35 was killed in a hit-and-run case reported from Upparpet traffic police station limits. The police said that around midnight a vehicle had run over the man near a lodge in the Majestic area. The police have registered a case and are on the lookout for the vehicle.

Fatal fall

Kumar Paul (30), a carpenter from West Bengal, died after he accidentally fell into a huge ditch at Sadaramangala in Kadugodi police station limits on the outskirts of the city on Monday evening. The police said a large number of construction industry workers from West Bengal and Orissa live in Sadaramangala, off Whitefield.

Suicide

Venkatesh (29), a carpenter, committed suicide by hanging himself at his house in Uttarahalli on Tuesday morning. The Subramanyapura police, who have registered a case, said they were yet to ascertain the reason .

Burgled

Burglars struck at a software engineer’s house in J.P. Nagar police station limits and looted gold ornaments, silver articles, electronic goods and silk saris, all worth Rs. 7 lakh, and Rs. 1,500 cash.
