Woman dies, ‘nurse’ beaten up

KARIMNAGAR: A nurse working in an unrecognised private nursing home was beaten up on Tuesday after being held responsible for the death of a pregnant woman in Rudrangi village of Chandurthi mandal of the district.Reports reaching here said that T. Ganga Bhavani (25), a native of Manala village of Kammarpalli mandal in Nizamabad district, was taken to Tirumala Nursing Home following labour pains.

She was admitted to the hospital on Monday morning and when the labour pains increased, the doctors administered an injection to induce delivery.

Within minutes after administration of the injection, Ganga Bhavani developed fits and the doctors advised her relatives to shift her to Korutla hospital.

When the relatives took her to Korutla, the doctors declared her brought dead. Immediately, her relatives returned to Rudrangi along with the body and searched for the doctors in the hospital, but in vain.

Two unqualified doctors running the nursing home, a chemist and others took to their heels while the unqualified nurse, Vijaya, stayed put. The victim’s relatives dragged her to the road and thrashed her severely.

They also accused her and the doctors of killing the patient.

Chandurthi Sub-Inspector V. Sampath said on Tuesday that cases had been registered against Prabhakar Reddy, diploma-holder in homoeo medicine, Srinvisa Reddy, bachelor of ayurvedic medicine (BAM), Vijaya and other hospital staff.

He said that the victim’s relatives had also been booked under IPC 143, 448 and other Sections.
