SINGAPORE: India on Tuesday introduced a fast-track system for issuing visas to Singapore businesspersons. Traders and industrialists of Singapore, the only country with which India has a partnership in the form of Comprehensive Economic Cooperation Agreement, will now be able to get business visas within a few hours. The same-day service is designed to implement Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s initiative, according to India’s High Commissioner to Singapore, S. Jaishankar. Singapore Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry chairman M. Rajaram said the move would “facilitate a greater interaction” between the business communities of both sides.
