NEW DELHI: The Delhi Government on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding with the Quality Council of India with the time-bound objective of attaining National Accreditation Board for Hospitals and Healthcare Providers (NABH) quality standards in all its hospitals and medical institutions within three years. The Quality Council of India would provide comprehensive consultancy services and technical support to prepare hospitals for accreditation as per NABH standards. Following the agreement, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit expressed confidence that it would help in enhancing the competency of Delhi hospitals in clinical care. Health Minister Yoganand Shastri said there would be no paucity of funds for maintaining the standards in Delhi hospitals and medical institutions. At the signing ceremony, it was stated that the exercise for quality assurance as per NABH standards would first be undertaken in G.B. Pant Hospital, JP Hospital, GTB Hospital, Janakpuri Super Specialty Hospital and Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsalya. It would be completed within six months and then the remaining 26 hospitals would be taken up in phases.
