General council of OSA formed

BHUBANESWAR: After a long wait, the government has finally formed the general council for the Orissa Sahitya Akademi, the apex literary body of the State, for tenure of three years.

Eminent poet Dipak Mishra and Haraprasad Parichha Patnaik continue to be its president and secretary respectively, the 39-member council comprises representatives of all the 30 districts of Orissa besides, poet Soubhagya Kumar Mishra, Atibadi Jagannath Das awardee Sudarsan Acharya and Dukhishyam Patnaik.

The body also includes representatives of Utkal University (Bijayananda Swain), Berhampur University (Krushna Chandra Pradhan), Sambalpur University (Rabi Sankar Mishra), Fakir Mohan University (Arabinda Giri) and Natabar Panigrahi (North Orissa University).

The litterateurs representing their districts include Pratibha Satpathy (Jagatsinghpur), Kedar Mishra (Sonepur), Bharat Majhi (Kalahandi), Manoj Meher (Nuapada), Sudha Das (Keonjhar), Prahlad Satpathy (Bolangir), Prafulla Mohanty (Boudh), Bhaskar Gantayat (Ganjam), Susant Nayak (Rayagada), Harihar Mishra (Puri), Asutosh Parida (Kendrapara), Sangram Jena (Jajpur) and Nrusingha Tripathy (Dhenkanal).

It also includes Prabodh Kumar Mishra (Cuttack), Prafulla Mohapatra (Deogarh), Prafulla Mohanty (Boudh), Giri Dandasena (Sundargarh), Uma Sankar Panda (Sambalpur), Manindra Meher (Bargarh), Apurba Ranjan Ray (Bhadrak), Biranchi Samal (Angul), Jemamani Bisoi (Gajapati), Padmanav Madkani (Malkangiri), Radhamohan Mishra (Phulbani), Haripada Satpathy (Balasore) and Nemai Mohanty (Mayurbhanj).

However, it has just four women members.
