Mayor reviews beach beautification work

The work, estimated to cost Rs. 7 crore, is scheduled for completion in September next
Chennai: Mayor M. Subramanian on Tuesday reviewed the progress of the beach beautification work along the stretch from War Memorial to the Reserve Bank subway on Rajaji Salai.
The work estimated to cost Rs. 7 crore is scheduled for completion in September next year.
A fountain opposite the flag staff of Fort St. George, footpaths made of granite, steel railings and landscaping have been planned as part of the project.
Near War Memorial
Another fountain would be installed at the junction of Rajaji Salai and Flag Staff Road near the War Memorial.
The work is being executed by a private contractor selected through a tender process.
Opposite Secretariat
A bus shelter has been planned at the stop opposite the Secretariat.
It would have a row of steel chairs for commuters to rest. Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni and a team of officials accompanied the Mayor during the visit.
