Programmes to be launched during Sarkozy’s visit Currently limited to Masters and Doctorate degrees PATNA: The Association of Indian Universities will sign a memorandum of understanding with the Association of French Universities for an exchange programme under which the parent university and the foreign university will simultaneously offer degrees to scholars for the same course. Patna University Vice-Chancellor Y.C. Simhadri, in his capacity as president of the Association of Indian Universities, will sign the MoU during the first week of January in Paris. Under the exchange programme students enrolled in the specified Indian universities will be sent to French universities for the entire period of the course and on completion will receive degrees from both universities. These programmes will be formally launched during French President Nicolas Sarkozy’s visit to India as the Chief Guest at the Republic Day Parade. The Indo-French consortium is currently limited to masters and doctorate degrees and will benefit students and teachers from 10 universities from both the countries. The 10 Indian universities include Patna University, Anna University, Delhi University, JNU, BHU, Calcutta University, Bombay University and Pune University.
