PATNA: The Bihar government on Wednesday issued an alert as it feared that problems would erupt in jails across the State. Inspector-General, Prisons, issued a directive to all the districts to take necessary steps to prevent a recurrence of the rebellion witnessed in the Beur Central Jail on Tuesday. The police had to use force to control it. Inmates owing allegiance to CPI(Maoists) had been on a hunger strike in the Jehanabad jail since Tuesday evening protesting against the lathi charge against fellow prisoners in the Beur jail.
