This Day That Age
Dorothy L. Sayers, playwright, novelist, and detective story writer, collapsed and died at her home in Witham (Essex), on December 17. She was 64. Despite her success in the world of mystery, Miss Sayers was, all her life, a scholarly woman of letters. She wrote “serious” novels under the name of Johanna Leigh and she also established a reputation as a classical translator.
