Two in fray for NTPC top post

NEW DELHI: The race for the top post of National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC) has just got close with Chandan Roy, Director (Operations), NTPC, emerging as the first choice to head the company after the retirement of T. Sankaralingam in May next year.
Official sources said the Public Enterprise Selection Board (PESB) that met on Monday forwarded to the Union Power Ministry the names of two candidates with Mr. Roy as its number one choice for the post of Chairman and Managing Director of NTPC. The PESB recommendation would now be sent by the Ministry to the Cabinet Committee on Appointments for its final approval.
The other name sent is that of R. S. Sharma, Director (Commercial), NTPC.
