BANGALORE: The board of directors of Deccan Aviation who met here on Wednesday were briefed about the report prepared by Accenture on the proposed merger with Kingfisher Airlines. The latter already owns 46 per cent stake in Deccan, whose aircraft now sport the Kingfisher colours. UB Holdings Chairman, Vijay Mallya, said just before the annual general meeting (AGM) of Deecan Aviation held earlier, “The board of UB Holdings has also to meet before a firm announcement can be made”. President-Financial of UB and a director of Deccan Aviation, A. K. Ravi Nedungadi, told reporters that “We will take decision soon enough”. The board of UB Holdings was likely meet this week-end or early next week, Mr. Nedungadi added. Speaking to shareholders at the AGM, Managing Director of Deccan, Capt. G. R. Gopinath, said, “the Deccan-Kingfisher combine has become the largest in the Indian aviation industry, together operating 550 flights daily to 70 destinations. Both airlines will operate as a group, maintaining their individual identities.
