Inter-school Games

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The second National inter-school Games (Group II) will be held in various venues here from December 24 to 27. The three-day meet, which is jointly organised by Sports Authority of India (SAI) and Kerala State Sports Council (KSSC), will witness competitions in football, volleyball, wrestling, table tennis and weightlifting.

Addressing a press conference, G. Kishore, the secretary of the KSSC said that the meet will attract more than 1,500 sportspersons in the under-16 category. He said that Rs. 1 lakh will be given as cash award to the school which wins the overall championship in the meet. The competitions will be held in Central stadium (football, volleyball and wrestling), YMCA hall (table tennis), Jimmy George indoor stadium (weightlifting) and Government Sanskrit College (volleyball).

Kerala sports Minister M. Vijayakumar will inaugurate the meet at 3 p.m. on December 24 while KSSC president will preside over the function.
