BANGALORE: The Global Green Bangalore Open golf tournament was off to a wet and truncated start at the Karnataka Golf Association course here on Wednesday. The Pro-Am, which precedes the four day event for professionals, had to be called off after the morning session as incessant rains affected the playing conditions. Shiv Kapur who came to play only in the Pro-Am only led his team to victory with a score of 58.8 points on the Texas Scramble format. The tournament for the professionals, scheduled to start on Thursday, may be abridged as rains continued to drench the city. The tournament committee would decide on the possibility of play on at 6 a.m. on Thursday. The results (Pro-Am): Winner: Shiv Kapur’s team (Shiv Kapur, Vineet Chhabra, Nitin Jajoo & Utpal Desai) 58.8 points; First runner-up: SSP Chowrasia’s team (SSP Chowrasia, Charu Sharma, Manoj Malhotra & Prem Bhatia) 58.9; Second runner-up: Anirban Lahiri’s team (Anirban Lahiri, Kanwaljit , Morali & Parvez ) 59.6. Longest Drive: Tony Gedra (290 yards); Straightest Drive: Sumit Rathore & Utpal Desai; Closest to the pin: 4th hole: Sandeep Kulhali; 8th hole: Dilip Paniker; 13th Hole: Aashray Goel; 15th Hole: Prem Bhatia Special Prize (winners of the Global Green Challenge for invitees): Chowrasia, Prem Bhatia, Charu and Sanjiv Mehra.
