We are not at all compromising on fire safety.
We are now giving permissions to buildings only if there is a No Objection Certificate from the Fire services Department. But an NOC does not mean that a building is fire-safe. What it means is that external help can be provided in the case of a fire.
There is now better coordination with the Fire Services Department and the police. The joint inspection conducted by the VMC and the Fire Services department has yielded good result and 25 of the 80 buildings that had no NOC installed some fire fighting equipment."
