Innovative method: Md. Arshad of Marvel Institute teaching students.

Hyderabad: It is tuition with a difference. At your time, place and convenience. Whenever you are free and in the mood for learning English simply pick up the phone – the instructor is just a phone call away. Literally, it is a new concept of home-based teaching all at the learner’s convenience.

What’s more, it is a total departure from the traditional way of teaching. No syntax and semantics, phonology and phonetics. There is no stress on grammar either. Emphasis is on imparting functional English. “We follow a methodology which is practical and largely oral,” says Mohd Arshad, the man behind the Marvel Institute of English.

Abilities assessed

While there is no dearth of institutes imparting communication skills, Mr. Arshad tries to follow a wholly new way of need-based teaching. The candidates’ comprehension and English-speaking abilities are assessed and a module is evolved accordingly. No attempt is made to go into the basics of English language. The effort is rather on making one speak fluently. It is not just students but business men, architects, doctors, housewives, mechanics and even politicians are busy toning up their English-speaking skills.

The institute has 15 tutors, including women. The latter are a big hit, particularly with housewives. Mr. Arshad can be contacted on phone: 9912628036.
