IMFL, beer to cost more

HYDERABAD: The government has hiked the price of IMFL and beer with effect from Wednesday.

According to GO 1542 issued on December 18, the trade margin of the Andhra Pradesh Beverages Corporation Ltd (APBCL) comprising basic price, excise duty and VAT on the basic price has been increased from 23 to 24 per cent per case costing between Rs.300 and Rs.400. The increase is from 23 to 26 per cent in case of those products costing Rs.400-700. For beer, the trade margin has been revised from 11 to 25 per cent for below 5 per cent alcoholic strength, from 14 to 25 per cent (for 5-7.5 per cent) and 17 to 29 per cent (for above 7.5 per cent).

According to a spokesman of the AP Wine Dealers’ Association, the cost of each beer bottle has gone up to Rs.8 and that of cheap liquor (180 ML) by Rs.2.
