Mecca Masjid authorities urge police to drop case against Sania

Staff Reporter

HYDERABAD: The Mecca Masjid authorities on Wednesday approached the police seeking to drop action against tennis player Sania Mirza against whom a trespass case was registered a few days ago following their complaint. Police sources said that higher-ups were yet to take a decision on the letter submitted by the Masjid authorities.

They maintained that dropping charge against Sania alone would not be possible as an advertising agency that shot a film with her on the Masjid premises was also made the co-accused in the case.

The Hussaini Alam police had registered a case against an advertising agency and the tennis player. It may be recalled that Sania had tendered a written apology to the Imam of Masjid subsequently.
