Woman attacked, valuables stolen
Staff Reporter
HYDERABAD: Two persons made off with gold jewellery weighing 150 grams and Rs. 3 lakh after attacking a pregnant woman in her house at Malakpet during daytime on Wednesday.
B. Sunitha, 30, a housewife, was alone, when two strangers knocked on the doors around 10 a.m. They asked her if she knew the address of her husband’s elder brother, Balraj.
“For the past three days, two persons approached her seeking similar details when Venu, her husband, was away. But the duo who came on Wednesday were different,” the Chaderghat police station Inspector Chandrashekhar said.
The two forced their way into the house, even as she told them she was not aware of the details. While one gagged her mouth, the other hit her on the head thrice. Threatening to kill her, they collected the gold ornaments she wore, some more jewellery and Rs. 3 lakh from the almirah and fled. Her husband returned home by noon only to see the house ransacked and his wife lying on the floor in a semi-conscious state. The police said Venu had some property and monetary disputes with his siblings.
