Accused caught after a chase

VILLUPURAM: The police on Wednesday arrested an accused, Vallampadugai Chandru alias B.Chandran (33), and seized sharp weapons and improvised explosive devices from a poultry farm at Kaanaimedu near here.
When Chandru attempted to escape, the policemen gave him a chase and caught him.
In the melee, Vinodh Kumar of the armed constabulary and Chandru sustained injuries. Both have been admitted to the Government Hospital as in-patients.
The police said that Chandru was involved in 20 offences, including seven murder cases and four theft cases, committed at Villupuram, Cuddalore, Tiruchi, and Puducherry.
