Santas, carols, gifts, Christmas is here

CHENNAI: What is it about Santa Claus that gets children across the globe going? The jolly fellow with the wide smile and the big belly was a hit with the little kids of Siragu Montessori School, Paalavedu, too.

In fact, much to their delight there were two Santas at the party organised by GRT Grand Hotel here on Wednesday.

As the children trailed in, none of them more than three feet tall, it was clear that the spirit of Christmas had arrived. Party hats and balloons were the first attraction, followed by Tom and Jerry cartoons shown on a large screen. The kids squealed at the duo’s antics, even the adults were glued to the screen and sharing the jokes, hardly batting an eyelid. When that was done, it was time for some good old Christmas carols, although the kids were not too impressed by that. They were more interested in getting their faces painted at the face painting stall. Then a whole range of sumptuous treats were served. Once the children were done eating it was time to party.

This is the fifth year that GRT Grand is collaborating with Suyam Trust to treat people.

For the 54 children present at the party it was certainly a Christmas to remember, as they dug into the gift that Santa had brought them, beaming all around.
