Boy killed near Srivilliputtur

MADURAI: Rain claimed the lives of two boys in Madurai and Virudhunagar districts taking the toll to five in the last two days.

A three-year-old boy, S. Karthigaiselvam, met a watery grave when he fell into a drain at Koodal Pudur in Madurai on Thursday.

In another incident, V. Palpandi (4), who was watching television at his neighbour’s house, was killed on the spot when a piece of concrete slab fell on him at Suraikaipatti near Srivilliputtur.

The Minister for Backward Classes, K.K.S.S.R. Ramachandran, and the Virudhunagar Collector, V. Chandrasekaran, on Thursday handed over Rs.2 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to the legal heirs of an aged couple killed at Mamsapuram on Wednesday.
