Pothana belonged to Warangal: KCR

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has kicked off a fresh controversy that Kadapa administration committed impropriety in using the name of poet Pothana for the bicentenary celebrations of the district that commenced on Thursday.

TRS president K. Chandrasekhar Rao told a news conference that Pothana, who hailed from Warangal, was wrongly identified with Kadapa in the literature brought out for the celebrations. The descendents of Pothana continued to live in Warangal. Mr. Rao demanded withdrawal of the disinformation campaign on the nativity of the legendary poet. He also wanted the Collector and in-charge Minister of the district to apologise for using the poet’s name.

Draft bill

Referring to the draft bill of the State Government for protection of Christian properties, Mr. Rao wanted it to be dropped as it sought to transfer control of the properties to government.
