NGEF unions stage protest
BANGALORE: The NGEF Employees Union and the NGEF Ex-employees Welfare Association observed Thursday as ‘Black Day’ to mark the completion of five years of the factory’s closure and staged a demonstration in front of the Mahatma Gandhi statue on M.G. Road here.
Urging the State Government to settle the arrears of 2,300 retired employees and provide alternative jobs for 122 of them, the protesters submitted a memorandum to Governor Rameshwar Thakur seeking his intervention in the matter.
G.R. Shivashankar, president of the union; M. Siddaamaiah, general secretary; and Sandhya Reddy, president of the association, led the protesters. — Staff Reporter
