Jail term for Adilabad ZP Chairman

ADILABAD: Luxettipet Judicial First Class Magistrate B.B. Nagender Rao on Thursday sentenced Adilabad Zilla Parishad chairman Rathod Ramesh (TDP) to two years imprisonment and fined Rs. 5,000 under Section 353 IPC for obstructing a government official from discharge of duties. He was also sentenced for one year and fined Rs. 3,000 under Section 506 IPC for threatening officials with dire consequences.
According to the prosecution conducted by Senior Additional Public Prosecutor Mohd. Sardar, Mr. Ramesh was convicted for manhandling Indanpalli Forest Range Officer (FRO) Naidu Kondal Rao on March 11, 2006.
The ZP chairman will go into appeal at the District Sessions Court. The sentencing has sent a shock wave among party circles in the district.
