Vijayakant’s plea to Government

CHENNAI: The Desiya Murpokku Dravida Kazhagam on Thursday urged the State Government to provide immediate relief to farmers and others affected by the recent rain spell.

In a statement, DMDK president Vijayakant said large tracts of farmlands in Cuddalore, Ariyalur and Thanjavur districts were inundated. A quick assessment of those who lost their homes, crops and livelihood should be conducted. The Government should also ensure that public health authorities took appropriate action to prevent spread of any disease. — Special Correspondent
