Rare ritual at Ganesh temple on January 6
Staff Reporter
Inavilli (East Godavari): The Ganapati temple here, which is popular in East and West Godavari districts after the one at Kanipakam in Chittoor district, is going to host a rare festival on January 6, 2008.
Speaking to The Hindu on Thursday, the Executive Officer of the temple V.V.S.N. Murthy said that they would perform ‘sapta nadi jalabhishekam’, a ritual with water collected from seven major rivers in India and also Pakistan.
Mr. Murthy said that they had already collected water from the Ganga, the Yamuna, the Saraswati, the Godavari, the Narmada and the Kaveri. A person had been deputed to collect the water from the Sindhu, which was located in Pakistan. He would return on December 26, the Executive Officer said.
