BANGALORE: The Karnataka State Women’s Development Corporation (KSWDC) has introduced various production-linked training activities. They have been directed at improving the socio-economic condition of women. According to Managing Director of the Corporation M.V. Thimmaiah, the new schemes have been designed to give women more financial benefits. In a press release here on Wednesday, Mr. Thimmiah said that batches of women were trained in 14 different production related activities, particularly those which the modern markets accept. Dress designing, jeans making, embroidery, beautician training, home nursing and house keeping, grass mat and Jandu grass mat making, DTP and screen printing training, computer training and financial accounting and software skills, coir product training, paper conversion and lamination, and electronic appliance repair training. Mr. Thimmaiah said the corporation was looking at providing specialised training in emerging fields in collaboration with institutes that run commercial courses. Recently the JSS Jewellery Design and Technology Institute conducted a two-month training in jewellery design and technology for 18 unemployed women, he said in the press release.
