CPI(M) central committee meet opens

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The 85-member central committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) began a three-day meeting here on Thursday to discuss and finalise its stand on crucial issues relating to economy, foreign policy and political developments ahead of the 19th party congress in Coimbatore in March.

The central committee would have detailed discussions aimed at finalising the draft political resolution to be taken up during the congress meeting in March, party sources indicated.

The civilian nuclear deal with the United States, India’s strategic relations, and issues such as Nandigram were also likely to be discussed, the sources said.
