Seven suspected Manipur militants held
Staff Reporter
Kolkata: Seven people, suspected to have links with the Manipur-based People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (Prepak), were taken in for questioning by the police here on Sunday.
They were nabbed in an early morning raid in the Jadavpur area, said Praveen Kumar, Superintendent of Police, South 24 Parganas. The raid came after inputs provided by Army intelligence, he added. The detained belonged to Prepak’s Shanti faction and two of them had cases pending against them in Manipur, Army sources said. They might have been using the city as a safe haven.
Two of them, Marsram German Singh and Maksha Ternam Gumondo Singh, are said to be important leaders while the rest are suspected to be involved in the group’s activities.
