Exhibition of award-winning photographs

Bangalore: An exhibition of award-winning photographs, organised by the Youth Photographic Society (YPS), begins on Friday, at Varna Art Gallery, Kannada Bhavan on J.C. Road.

The society picked its winners from 2,350 entries it received from across the country for the 29th YPS All-India Salon held recently.

The photographs competed in several categories such as nature prints, monochrome prints, digital creative prints and travel slides.

The following were the winners of the first prize from the various categories: Pramod Shanbhag from Bangalore in the nature prints section for his capturing “Lions’ courtship behaviour”; Jhulan Mahanta from Raigung for his “Witness” from the monochrome prints section; Paul Anup from Kolkata for “Prayer” which competed in the colour prints pictorial section; Subir Roy from Lucknow, for “The mask”, a digital creative print; Debashish Tarafder, Kolkata for his colour slide pictorial entitled “Alone in nature”; Vivekanada Bose, from Kolkata for his “Landscape” in the travel section; and Mallikarjuna from Bangalore for his shot of “Leopard and cub” in the nature slides section.

The prize distribution will be held on December 25 at Nayana Auditorium at Kannada Bhavan at 11.a.m.

The exhibition will be held until December 25.
