A hilarious comedy

Romeoo

After a week of cinema from the world over at the International Film Festival of Kerala, viewers are back to seeing the local productions. The first to hit the theatres is director Rajasenan’s latest, starring Dileep in the lead role. Rafi and Macartin have scripted this hilarious comedy.

Manu Krishnan (Dileep) is a nurse in a private hospital. His father, Ratheesh Kumar (Cochin Haneefa), is a junior artiste who dreams of acting with superstars. Mother Lekshmi (Mallika Sukumaran), a singer of yesteryear, is now a judge at reality shows on television.

A jovial character, Manu likes the company of beautiful women.

At the hospital, he befriends Dr. Priya (Vimala), who loves him. But he is unaware of it. One of her friends tries to reveal it to him. Just then, another woman walks into his life. Leena (Samvrutha) is a singer and one of the contestants in a reality show in which Lekshmi is the judge. Leena’s father wants her to become the star singer by hook or crook. But all his efforts are in vain.

Manu and Leena decide to get married. Leena’s father is against it and puts forward the condition that Manu convert to Christianity. He complies and becomes Manuel.

But at the betrothal, Leena ditches Manu. He now finds himself in a desperate situation.

In the meantime, Manu is dismissed from service. An old chum Prasanthan (Suraj Venjaramood) gets him the job of a home nurse.

He has to take care of a mentally challenged person in an orthodox family. And he has to pretend to be belonging to its community. Here, he becomes Subramaniam, and, as is his nature, courts a young girl, Bhama (Sruthi Lekshmy). But somehow, her family comes to know that Subramaniam is of another community.

Trouble starts with three women coming in search of Manu one after another. Each wants to marry him. How Manu wriggles out of such an unpleasant situation forms the rest of the story.

Laughter

Suraj Venjaramood, in his comic role, excels and brings down the house with his mannerisms and dialogue presentation.

The cast includes Riza Bawa, T.P. Madhavan, Asokan, Bheeman Reghu, Salim Kumar and Madhu Warier.

Vayalar Sarathchandra Varma’s lyrics are set to music by Alex Paul. Except for Kilichundan mavil …, led by Afsal and party, no song creates any impact. K.P. Nambiathiri cranks the camera.

Romeoo has been produced by Rafi.
