Don makes a ‘guest appearance’

Underworld don Abu Salem’s ‘guest appearance’ in the city on Wednesday kept the police on their toes.
He was brought here to face a court trial with regard to a criminal case pertaining to obtaining passport under a fake name. Taking no chances, the police took Salem to Nampally police station, Chanchalguda jail and later to the court, amid tight security. He was taken to Mumbai on Thursday as his case was posted to January 3, bringing much relief to the police. During his ‘brief stay’, the Don looked pretty relaxed and was seen waving and smiling to the battery of waiting mediamen near the court and Chanchalguda jail!
Salem and his companion Monica Bedi were extradited from Portugal. Monica was later shifted to Hyderabad in November 2005. A few months ago, the court granted her bail.
