ISRO to launch Carto satellite by February

Helps in urban planning, infrastructural development Student satellite project involving 10 colleges announced
HYDERABAD: A Carto-IIA satellite would be launched in the first week of February next year, said Dr. R. K. Rajangam, deputy Director of ISRO Satellite Centre, here on Thursday.
Speaking at the inaugural ceremony of the Astronautical Society of India (ASI) student chapter at Vignan Institute of Technology and Science, he said the photographic satellite would help in urban planning and other infrastructure development activities. Even one-meter objects on the earth could be viewed with this.
The idea of starting the student chapter was initiated by Dr. Rajangam who is also the secretary of ASI.
A “student satellite” project involving ten different colleges from three States was also announced.
Institute Director B. K. Rao said the student chapter would create awareness about space and space sciences among students. He reminded that space technology was gaining momentum benefiting mankind.
Vignan Group of Institutions Chairman Dr. L. Rathaiah and Planetary Society Founder Secretary N. Raghunandan Kumar were present.
