Bakrid should promote peace, says Barnala

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: Governor S.S. Barnala and Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi have conveyed their greetings to the Muslims on the occasion of Bakrid on Friday.

Mr. Barnala said the festival of sacrifice should rekindle the spirit of unity and brotherhood and promote peace.

The Chief Minister said that besides the concessions they already enjoyed, the State Government this year provided for 3.5 per cent reservation for the Muslims in employment and education. Former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa said the occasion reminded one of the need to worship God and offer help to the poor.
