This calendar with a difference seems all set to create a buzz

BANGALORE: With just a few days left for the onset of the New Year, there are a number of calendars with eye-catching visuals that are on offer. But the one released by photojournalist K. Venkatesh features Sridevi (35), a transsexual, for his calendar project.

Mr. Venkatesh said that he wanted to break the rule that only men and women could be used as models for calendars.

Even “hijras” could be equivalent to any other models. Sridevi’s bright ‘cat eyes’ made me choose her as a model,” he said.

Claiming his project as first of its kind, Mr. Venkatesh has earlier photographed “hijras” for contests. Gushed the model, Sridevi, “Being a Bangalorean, I am delighted to get recognition in Bangalore as a model,” she said.
