Pratibha to visit Andhra Pradesh

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: President Pratibha Devisingh Patil will ring in the New Year in Andhra Pradesh.

Beginning Friday, she will be based at the Rashtrapati Nilayam in Secunderabad for the next 16 days — moving out for a couple of days to visit Puducherry and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.

In Puducherry, Ms. Patil will attend the inaugural function of the 34th Jawaharlal Nehru National Science Exhibition for Children, 2007 on December 21. The following day, she will visit the Aurobindo Ashram in Auroville, according to a Rashtrapati Bhavan release.

During her tour of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands from December 26 to 28, the President will visit rehabilitation work sites in the tsunami-affected areas and interact with the islanders.

In Hyderabad, she will attend programmes organised by the State government and the Defence Ministry, including a visit to defence research establishments and the Air Force Training Institute.
