Dargah committee appeals for airport at Ajmer

Special Correspondent

CHENNAI: The Ajmer Dargah Committee has appealed to the Union Civil Aviation Minister to create an airport at Ajmer in Rajasthan.

In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Praful Patel, Prince of Arcot Nawab Abdul Ali, president of the Ajmer Dargah, said the Committee, at a recent meeting, unanimously passed a resolution in favour of establishing an airport at Ajmer.

The committee had authorised the Dargah president to take up the matter with the Centre, asking it to consider it on a priority basis.

The Dargah Khwaja Sahib attracts millions from all sects and religions, within the country and abroad. The pilgrims visit to invoke the blessings of the Sufi Saint, Khwaja Moinuddin Chisty, and pay homage at the shrine throughout the year and particularly during ‘Urs’ (death anniversary), which falls in the Islamic month of Rajab every year.
