This is the second owl rescued by Prof. Attaz

The rescued Barn Owl
BANGALORE: Superstition equates owls with bad omen, but the role of these nocturnal birds in checking rodent menace can never be overstated. With rapid urbanisation, our city has very little space or consideration for our feathered friends. However, sometimes there are kindly souls who stop to help.
An owlet was found wet and incapacitated at a drain in Al Ameen College on Tuesday. “The continued cold weather could have incapacitated the owlet that we found on the college campus,” said zoology professor Rahmath Attaz, who is nursing the bird at his residence now.
This is the second barn owl in four months that Prof. Attaz has rescued. The high rise buildings around the Lal Bagh area have emerged as safe haven for barn owls. Appealing to the people not to harm owls, Prof. Attaz said that his group of volunteers would rescue such birds. He can be contacted on 9845243864.
