Sale of mahua liquor to be banned

BERHAMPUR: Sale of mahua liquor in unmarked polythene packs by licensed mahua distilleries would be banned in Ganjam district from January.

Although pack of any packaged food or beverage has to mention the manufacturing unit, date of manufacturing, date of expiry, quantity and price on the packet. Till now the licensed Mahua liquor shops and distilleries in the district are selling this cheap liquor in plain polythene pouches. These pouches resemble the pouches of sweetened drinks sold at street corner kiosks.
