Official says documents have been seized Main accused Pastor Nayak manages to escape BERHAMPUR: The Canadian financiers of an NGO operating at G.Udaygiri in Kandhamal district were shocked to find that around Rs.60 lakhs donated by them for social service had been allegedly misappropriated. When the Canadian donors started to enquire about the use of the money they had provided, the head of the concerned NGO, Pastor Samuel Nayak and his supporters allegedly threatened the Canadians. Having no other way out, the Canadians complained about it with their embassy in India. They have also filed an FIR at the Phulbani Sadar police station of Kandhamal district. The officer in charge of the Phulbani Sadar police station, Gopinath Manipatra informed that the allegations were made by Joan Monsi and Kenneth Monsi, the founder and president of a Canadian organisation, Heart of Compassion & Care International. According to them since past few years they were continuously funding the NGO owned by Pastor Nayak for its efforts to run an orphanage and to rehabilitate poor orphans at G.Udaygiri. During this period Pastor Nayak had allegedly received around Rs. 60 lakhs from the Canadian organisation. According to Mr. Manipatra, they have started investigation into the allegations made by the Canadians and have seized documents related to the NGO. But the investigation faces a set back as the main accused, Pastor Nayak has managed to escape and is absconding. Search is on to nab him. This year Joan and Kenneth decided to inspect the use of their money by the NGO. They were stunned when they found that the NGO had not used money for the purpose for which it was donated. According to the benefactors the head of the NGO had used the money for his own gains. When they objected to it, Pastor Nayak and his supporters allegedly threatened to manhandle them. Having no other way out, the Canadians escaped from G.Udaygiri and reached the district headquarter Phulbani. They filed their complaint at the Phulbani Sadar police station and also informed about it to their embassy.
