DAVANGERE: The Congress leader Siddaramaiah has said that the party high command will decide who will be Chief Minister if the party wins the coming Assembly elections. In an informal chat with presspersons at Harpanahalli on Thursday, the former Deputy Chief Minister said that Union Minister Prithviraj Chavan, who is in charge of party affairs in the State, had already stated in Bangalore some time ago that the decision would be left to the high command.
So if someone said that one particular leader was the chief ministerial candidate, it was of no significance, he said. Mr. Siddaramaiah said that it would be a straight fight between the Congress and the Bharatiya Janata Party in the coming elections, and the Janata Dal (Secular) had no significance in State politics. ContestHe said that he would contest from the Chamundeshwari Assembly constituency this time too. Earlier, addressing party workers, Mr. Siddaramaiah blamed the JD(S) and the Bharatiya Janata Party for bringing on mid-term elections.
