Ranchi: Jharkhand is in the grip of cold wave conditions with the mercury plummeting to just 3.9 degrees Celsius in the early morning at Kanke in the outskirts of the capital city on Friday. The minimum temperature in Ranchi was 7 degrees Celsius and the maximum 24.6 degrees Celsius, according to the weather office. The minimum temperature in the steel city of Jamshedpur was 7.3 degrees Celsius, 5 degrees below normal, and the maximum was 26.6 degrees Celsius, the weatherman said. A Wadood, a scientist with Birsa Agriculture University, said the cold wave conditions are prevailing following plunge in the mercury caused by north-westerly winds after the snowfall in Himachal Pradesh and some other northern states.
